i have got this engine with its ecu and harness completely swapped into e30 in 2013.

But lately, i have been having this...

DME 1.7.2 errors when diagnosed:

100 Engine Control System
85 Air Con compressor

The "100 Engine Control System" error is more critical. Does anyone know what this error is? How can I rectify this?

In addition, the service indicator light stopped at "orange" warning level. But did not advance to RED even after 6 months of driving. But i changed my oil at regular intervals by monitoring the mileage

Thanks

teo

Service indicator fault needs to be investigated ASAP, since it's probably caused by failed batteries on the SI circuit board. Failed batteries tend to leak corrosive liquids, which will write off the electronics for the entire instrument cluster if ignored.
Is there actually anything wrong with your car's engine, or was this just a code reading exercise because you could?
If you don't have aircon on your car, this will probably explain the 85 code, and the 100 code seems to refer, rather vaguely, to the ECU's drivers.
Codes should always be noted, erased, and the car then driven to see if they come back again, since there's all kinds of spurious reasons why ECUs acquire stored fault codes.

thanks for your reply.

1. the service indicator fault is unlikely to be due to battery. because when i reset it, the lights all go to green (and bright normal). the problem is it's unable to advance to "red" warning light. and stays on "orange" for months!

2. after resetting the fault codes, the 100 fault code comes back after say 5 minutes. this is the one that concerned me. it may be the cause to the problem described in 1???

3. code 85 is something the mechanic set it such that a/c is always on. but because this is e36 engine on e30 body, this fault is always there. because e30 a/c is a simple one that only has on/off a/c switch. I don't know what he did to always turn on this because it was done in 2014 more than 2 years ago! could this lead to the fault 100 that i experienced lately?

is there anywhere to prevent it from happening? or how do you solve this problem?

Is the DME faulty? has anyone experienced somethng like this? I have a spare DME that i swap to try it.
