right iv spent the last 3 nights hopelessly trolling through the forums looking at what mods and swaps would be the easiest for big gains and still have come up trumps ever I'm not looking hard enough... probably or its just to far back that i haven't found it! any way on to the fun stuff

iv got a 93 318is m42 what is the best route to extract the ultimate power gains out of it?? i don't really want to do a engine swap unless i really have to because gains aren't that satisfying.

i looked at doing a stroker but i couldn't find a actual list of everything what is needed, i also half heartedly went down the turbo route sourced a manifold and that was really it.

would a turbo engine with light internal mods be kicking out a decent power figure or would it be best to try to up the cc and turbo it don't want to fortune on it but i can stretch to afford some decent stuff!

any help would be good!! have all the time in the world to do it as its sitting on my drive on blocks at the moment because i owe my dad a diff so mine has to be sacrificed lol!!!!

How much do you have to spend?

What will the car be used for?

Does it have to remain road legal?

There are no cheap ways to get more power out of the M42.

A rolling road remap might get you near to 150bhp but you need a good engine to start with.

+1

The best mods are remap, 325 lightened flywheel, drilled airbox, full stainless decat exhaust. That lot will cost around £700 and get you up to 160ish bhp.

Money is best spend on suspension strut brace bushes etc.
