I've recently got a lovely M10 engined cromie two door non sunroof / wind up window car that doesn't even need a touch of paint and last night i managed to pick up an M42 with all aux's/ loom ecu / coils/ rad etc. Has anyone put an M42 in a cromie non injection shell? I'm guessing i will need to change the fuel tank for an injection one with the pump / lines as required but what about the wiring? will the M42 plug up to the c101 connector on the bulkhead without changes ? or will I have to move pins about ? I'm guessing that I will need to run additional fuel pump wiring ...Does anyone know ?

Many Thanks

A lot depends on the age of your car. Carb. M10 engined E30s were produced right up to and past the '87 facelift.
The last ones only needed the fuel pump and rear underfloor loom fitting, plus the return fuel line.
Whether you need to change the fuel tank depends on whether it has the cup fitted inside to the base of it for an in tank pump to pick up fuel from. If it has, the high pressure pump fits directly in place of what you have now.
There's a very good chance that all the pump wiring is present, all the way back to the plug and socket on the RH side of the rear seat pan.

Thanks Mr Moore. Mine is an 86 so I'm hoping it may have the cup in the tank / wiring. My problem is now that I've given a temporary home to a £500 well spec'ed Z3 as a turn around project (Just covered in moss but a clean car underneath the plant life ) so I can't get at the E30 to check as she's at the back of the garage under a load of dustsheets / piled parts untill the squatter has gone :x
