Airflow meter differences?

Hope someone can help me with this. I've got 2 airflow meters which I thought were the same but one says made in Germany on (which is from my old m40), and one that says made in France (came with my new m42 engine). I would presume they are just different years but the part numbers are different in the last three numbers. I thought m40 and m42 maf were the same?? Is one better than the other for my m42?

Last tree digits on the m40 one are 134 and on the m42 are 203
