Hi,
I'm planning on swapping out the M52 B28 I have currently in my E30 as the motor is toast, the setup has the M50 manifold and E30 compatible oil sump.
When swapping in the donor from an E39 M52 B28 (will be keeping the M50 manifold and oil sump is there anything I need to bear in mind?
Will the current M52 wiring work with the swap? both motors are from 1997?
Also anything worth changing whilst the motors are out? I have done the water pump and thermostat inc housing.
Thank you in advance.
Old M52 out, new M52 in

Yep the wiring will be the same as long as the new engine is also single vanos. Also have you had a compression test done on the new engine to ensure it's in good condition before dropping in?
Hi, thank you for the reply.
Yes same single vanos, I changed the water pump and and thermostat inc the housing when I bought the donor back in February (the thermostat was stuck open). Has 85k on the clock and drives sweet, a fully loaded exec vehicle with only 3 owners.
I'm tempted to moved across the AC as well but don't have the know how.
