Cam change Vanos oil feed

I'm putting a m54b30 inlet cam in my 2.8 .when shortening the nose of the cam I noticed a star drive in the end of the cam .on the m52b28 inlet there is a tiny hole from the first cam journal into the vanos that feeds it oil . Is it ok for it not to feed the vanos ? What have others done .thanks
