just a quick one, just shortening and cutting down the loom to make it fit in the bay nice and cut though the section of wires that lead to the coil pack plug, on cutting it found an internal white plastic tube in the centre and a steel non coated wire running down the outside, guessing these are to separate the wires or something ? can't see them running to anywhere? just interested to see if anyone knows the purpose of these and wether i have ruined my loom by cutting this 8O [/img]

These are screened cables, designed to stop ignition pulses interfering with other circuits. The signal wire is in the middle, and the outer wire is connected to earth (body/battery negative) at at least one end.
Join the inner cores first, soldered and heat shrink sleeved, then reconnect the outer cores, maintaining the screening as well as you can, then heat shrink the outer.

i have connected up the 6 wires for each coil heat shrink and connected up the bare metal wire on the outside as well as the brow earth and the green live that run outside the sleeving but what is the white plastic core ? that just to stop interference ?
