My donor M52 is now up on an engine stand so I've finally started the prep work to get it ready for fitting.

I've removed the viscous fan, water pump, thermostat, aircon pump and bracket, starter motor and standard manifold.

I have an M50 manifold ready to go on, I've removed the old one and also removed the oil separator bits as per the wiki.

1) My first question is around the coke can sized component near the dipstick tube, does that also get removed? If not, any suggestions where I connect the vacuum hoses?

2) Next question is around relocation of M52 AIT sensor, I found that it will fit perfectly in the push fit hole next to the existing M50 AIT sensor, but I think this is usually where the FPR vacuum hose is located, can the sensor stay here and I relocate the FPR vacuum, any ideas where?

If the FPR vacuum must go in that hole then i'll need to source the plastic insert as my manifold never came with one.

3) Next is the sensor on the old M52 throttle body, is that part of the ASC? Do I need to worry about the sensor being disconnected or do I just plug the sensor in and leave it in the engine bay somewhere?

4) Finally, I've forgotten what connects to this connector? (to the left of the TB mounting point)

That's everything I can think of for now, thanks!

1. Bin it
2. Yes its fine there use any vacuum on the intake for the FPR, the U shaped hose from the ICV can be used.
3. Get rid no part of the system is needed at all
4. Servo

Cheers Dan. There is a spare nipple on the swan necked hose from manifold to ICV, I'll use that for FPR vacuum hose...saves trying to blank it!

I'll be in touch with you at some point to get the M52 exhaust manifold fabricated for E30 use... I've only got the headers from the donor car, is that an issue?

What are people doing with unused wires in M52 loom? Can I just leave them in the loom wrapped in electrical tape
or should I be completely removing them all the way back to ECU harness plug?
