Hello!

I've been working on my m52 conversion for a couple of weeks now and have finally got to the point of turning the key... But nothing! Ignition is fine, the dash lights up and the pump primes, but turn the key and not a sound!

I've had a ews deleted, and there is no aftermarket alarm, just the bmw central locking and alarm box tucked up above the glove box. Is there anyway that could be immobilising the car? I've never had the fob, just always used the key.

Has anyone had this problem?

Also I presume once ews had been deleted you don't need to plug in the module?

Thanks in advanced

EWS starter inhibitor is rarely wired in on an E30 conversion even when EWS is retained.
The starter circuit is very simple, consisting of the earth strap from engine to body mentioned above, the thick wire from battery + to the starter solenoid, and a single black/yellow wire from the ignition switch to the starter solenoid.
Use a screwdriver or a piece of wire to short the medium sized terminal on the starter solenoid, where the black/yellow connects, to the outer large terminal where the battery lead connects.
This will establish whether the problem is with the power circuit or the control circuit.
