I will be replacing my fuel pressure regulator as its crusty and can't see how I would be able to reach the fuel hose N°17 for reassembly. I don't want to take the intake manifold off so I thought I would replace the little hose N°17 and the metal pipe N°13 with a stainless braided fuel hose and butt it to N°18 with a hose connector joiner thingy.

Is it a bad idea? Is the line metal there for safety reasons or to keep things tidy?

It's not a massive job removing the manifold. Personally I would just do that and do a proper job
