Wiring loom questions..

I'm going to sort the wiring out this week for my m52 conversion. I have the m52 loom off and I am going to replace the plug on the the m52 loom for a e30 c101 plug so when engine is fitted it plugs straight in.

1) Am I best waiting until engine is fitted?

2) Do I need to lengthen / shorten the loom? Or just replace plug?

3) how acurate is the wiring diagram below? (Going into a 1987 pre facelift)

Can i jack this thread and ask if this will be ok on a 1990? i know 87 was when they facelifted.

Also on the E36 i have 2 connectors that look the same one is obviously the x20 (not sure which one at the moment) do you know what the other one would be for?

Also where the ECU sits there is another box in there is that the control unit for gear box?

late 96 328i auto is what the loom is coming out from.
