I've ordered a Spigot bearing from and M20 using the part number off real OEM. However it doesn't fit over the end of the output shaft.

What is the correct part number of the spigot bearing i need?

Thanks in advance

What's the diameter of your spigot shaft?

I was lead to believe the spigot bearing has to match the box you are using, not the clutch/flywheel. I need to order mine soon so please correct me if im wrong.

Yup. Measure the shaft diameter to be sure of the size needed. I think its either 12mm or 15mm iirc.

I bought an M42 spigot today as a test and it fit's perfectly for my box, I'm not sure if they differ in shaft diameter but the 12mm M20 Spigot bearing wouldn't fit my shaft on my M42 box.

I had the same thing - iS box, needed M42 spigot ring! Still have a brand new M20 spigot laying around in a box somewhere ;)

In theory (after checking many part numbers!), the M42 could have either a 12mm or 15mm bearing - the changeover date is Sept '90.
Afaik, the M20 only used the 12mm. So if your M42 box came from an iS built from Sept '90 it should have the 15mm shaft meaning an M20 sized bearing wouldn't fit.

But in practice, I always measure the shaft diameter as I've been caught out before - my 318i is listed as using a 15mm bearing but it actually needed a 12mm... who knows if its still got its original gearbox.
