i'm in the process of changing the lump in my 99 328i touring, the replacement lump is out of a 95 reg car, heres my problem late engine has a sensor at the rear of engine below the starter, older engine sensor is on the front of the engine, is this a problem? if so what are my options?

I went the other way round with my compact, you will need the ECU to that engine.
Or swap the whole loom including sensors onto the new engine.

i don't think swapping the loom is an option as the older engine doesn't have the same toothed gear on the end of the crank, i don't have the ecu from that engine but would any ecu from that model year be ok or would i need the complete ews kit?.
