Just got the M52 going and it's quite noisey from the tappets the engine was stood for about 4 months before I put it in so I think they have drained of oil and I've got good oil pressure, using 5w30 fully oil, the car hasent been driven yet just run in the garage for half an hour to bleed cooling system and that, anyone got any ideas? Don't really want to strip the head to replace the stuck ones if there's a trick to free them off

Just keep running it, they usually free off pretty quick once up to temp

What is the correct oil for the m52, main dealers use 5w30 but it's green in colour if anyone had ever noticed

An old trick is to run a quart of automatic transmission fluid in there for a short time. I did that and it really helped. Although I still ended up pulling the cams and rebuilding all 24.
