Cyl head temp senders question

Hi folks, sorry this is not an E30 question but I'm currently in the process of swapping the M50 in my E34 with an M52. The M52 only has one temp sender where the M50 has two. I could simply drill and tap a new hole but I think that would mean removing the head to avoid debris getting inside. Does anyone know why there are two senders on the M50 and can I delete one?

I could be totally wrong, but is there any chance there is a similarity here in terms of needing to add an E30 brown temp sensor when putting an M52 into an E30? As in that situation if you have a two-hole, not three-hole head (as i did), you pop the e30 temp sensor in the coolant outlet hole, and delete the coolant run that heads to the throttle body. Not sure how this translates to E34s and M50 engines though..
