everything i have ever heard about flushing has always been a big no, if the engine is out it pays to clean the crap from the sump and pick up pipe but aslong as the engines been looked after and serviced at correct intervals it shouldn't be to bad.

The petrol will dilute the oil and essentially strip down some of the sludgy build up, personally i could see it working although when I asked about it concerning another car. I was warned running the engine like this even for a few minutes (which was suggested to me) could potentially cause damage. All in all, unless there is a terrible sludge build up I wouldnt advise touching it especially if you're going to use fairy liquid 8O

was told use Diesel but not going to do any of it just leaving it be. Not broken so no point in fixing it.

Just wanted to see if others have done it

You don't use diesel, you use diesel oil as its got a lot more detergents in it that normal oil.

I have done an oil and filter with diesel oil, dropped the oil and filter after 500 miles and filled with normal oil. Pulls some shit out that's for sure.

I flushed a Rover engine years ago, smoked like a bastid after. 8O

should never flush your engine unless you want some trouble in the future like: leaks, premature wear, f***ed oil pump etc.
Want a clean engine then take it appart and put it back together after you cleaned all bits in diesel and soked in oil replacing all seals with new ones on the way :wink:
