Not got any fault codes that come up for it but just thinking of changing it and the piston. Both must be old, original to the car. Did have the VANOS off last week to change the seals and forgot to check the piston movement on the solenoid end
Any one else changed their solenoid or piston? and seen any improvement?

The actual solenoid bit is kind of a works or it doesn't thing, the electrics are solid state so unless there is an electrical break then leave it.

that's what i thought mate works or don't but the solenoid is a magnetic mechanism but easy to get to thank god. The piston and spring would wear over time i guess as any moving part would.
