on a e36 m50b25 & gearbox swap is 3.15 lsd the absolute most fantastic diff, what else could be considered.

I can have one for about £540, is it worth it or a £100 open diff would do for a road car? I don't know or understand much about the matter tbh

cheers

You could use anything from a 2.93 to a 3.46. I expect the 3.46 to be a bit busy for a road car though, especially if you do motorway miles - it could be fun round town though winkeye
An open diff is fine for road use, most cars have these, the LSD is useful if you like spirited driving and leaving 2 black lines on the exit of corners etc :D

What LSD would you be buying for £540? 8O

Have a look for a Z3M LSD, they're 3.15 ratio and should be cheaper than an M3 diff and most likely less abused.

Most E30 M3s run a 3.25 LSD, but there were some with a 3.15s. Anything E30 M3 related seems to warrant high prices!

my mistake its 3.25 and comes at £475... its probably a rip off and a beaten piece of caca, it will blend in with the rest of the car very well :)

thanks for your help!

When the back plate it off how can you tell if the parts are worn beyond reason?
