Right, fitting radiator hoses etc and getting the plumbing done this coming weekend. A coolant flush is another new experience for me, so I have a few questions - for which I havn't yet found any answers, probably because they are such simple questions! But never mind, here goes.

1) Where is the bleed screw on these motors (M52B28, Single Vanos, 1995) for letting out air as you fill. There isn't one in the hoses, so should it be on the rad somewhere?

2) What is the best way to do this for best chance of first time success :D

Bleed screw should be on top of rad next to the filling cap.

It's a shit design and a bit of trial and error to fill them sometimes. Seems worse to fill if it's in an E30.

I'm sure someone will have some methods for you to try soon. None of mine worked very well. :)

Just make sure it's nose high and the heater's on full blast if you can, least when you're getting heat out of it, you'll know it's bleed.

and watch the bleed nipple on the radiator! the + head on them wear off and there a bitch to get out had to drill a few of mine off , make sure you use a massive flat head or something, but then again i had to do mine on the side of the road when my heater matrix blew up a few times lol! so making good of tools i had on me!

The plastic screw with the cross head? These should be replaced as a matter of course when you fit the rad - they go brittle with age.
Very easy to remove if you do break the head off of one, without resorting to drills.
Simply heat the blade of a medium sized flat screwdriver to just short of dull red, push it into the broken end of the screw for half a second, pull it out and let everything cool. Push the screwdriver back into the newly formed slot, and unscrew.

Use a coin to screw it back in, you wont be able to over tighten it like the mongrels with oversized industrial flathead chisel drivers do winkeye

Front end up on a slope with the engine running usually gets them bled easily
