Had a nightmare of a job trying to remove the starter on an e36 323i touring auto. Now I have removed and replaced the starter 4 times on my m50'd turd without any hassle but this has been one big headache!

So I finally get the 2 torx bolts out holding the starter in after a struggle and expected the starter to slide out after maybe a couple of love taps, but no, it's firmly wedged in there.

Any idea's? Have tried moving the crank back and forth while tapping/prying on the starter as it's permanently engaged but no luck.

I want to burn this festering turd to the ground, but it's not mine

Cheers diable but I just got it out now. The locating peg was so badly corroded it had basically fused to the starter. Gave it a spray with some penetrating fluid and then gave it the good news with a hammer with a pry bar applying pressure and it finally came out. It's been one of those days where nothing has gone to plan

Had to smash the fooker so hard the case is bent. Don't think I'll be able to do an exchange on it
