Had a nightmare of a job trying to remove the starter on an e36 323i touring auto. Now I have removed and replaced the starter 4 times on my m50'd turd without any hassle but this has been one big headache!

So I finally get the 2 torx bolts out holding the starter in after a struggle and expected the starter to slide out after maybe a couple of love taps, but no, it's firmly wedged in there.

Any idea's? Have tried moving the crank back and forth while tapping/prying on the starter as it's permanently engaged but no luck.

I want to burn this festering turd to the ground, but it's not mine :(

Cheers diable but I just got it out now. The locating peg was so badly corroded it had basically fused to the starter. Gave it a spray with some penetrating fluid and then gave it the good news with a hammer with a pry bar applying pressure and it finally came out. It's been one of those days where nothing has gone to plan :(
