Hello I'm new to the forum and have been thinking about doing this conversion to a 318is.

I have read lots of info on what in required for the swap I am just wondering if anyone has a rough cost not including the price of the car?

Also handling wise how does the e30 take to the m52? Would the e36 be a better handing car or are they similar?

Thanks,

Darragh

Looking from around £1k to £2k plus to do it. Can be done for cheaper if you get lucky with cheap bits and do a lot of the stuff yourself.

e30's are fine with an m5x conversion. Remember to swap your front springs out for 6 pot items though.

e36's will handle better, they are more sure footed than an e30 (wider, longer and z link rear end) but e30's are great fun.

Hope that helps a bit and welcome to the forum

Thanks for the fast reply, Will be doing everything myself so i will save some money there hopefully. E30's look so much better as well that's what really turning me towards it over the E36.

Just need to do a bit of research into everything i need now 8O

Edit: Just say the sticky there, Is there any problem with using an engine that is after 1995?

Well worth going for DanThe's wiring looms (engine and fan control) and he does a ready to use manifold too all at very reasonable prices.

No problem using a post 1995 engine

The difference is the EWS I think, possibly also OBD1 vs OBD2 - worth reading up about both. I'm no expert, but re-doing an M50'd E28 atm.
