Worn vanos?

I'm preparing my m52b28 and saw that one of the vanos gears is a bit worn. The one that driven by the timing chain is perfect, but the other one is pointy. I don't understand why one is worn and the other one is like new. There no signs of earlier repairs.
I've got no experience with vanos, does this need replacement?

Those are chain sprockets, not vanos gears, they dont look excessively worn to me.
Its where the chain sits that is the important part.
I bet you cant hear it :D

You're right, this is the sprocket for the inlet camshaft of course :o: .
I'm gonna replace it anyway, also will renew the vanos, since that's has to be taken off anyway.
