hi im currently wiring in a m52 2.8 in to my e30 and i'm stuck with these two pins on the x20 engine connector [8 and 19]
i will start by saying i have removed whole e30 loom engine and interior, due to it being a track car i will have my own fuse boxes and switch panels.
ok pin 8 is grey on x20 connector comes from ecu pin 20 [bentley manual page ELE - 84] and goes to instrument panel pin 16
which from there it just points with an arrow to the words [engine control system] [page ELE - 167]
what dose this wire do? turn on engine management light or something?
then onto x20 connector pin 19
this is green and white it comes from pin 7 on the diagnostic plug[page ELE - 90], via the x20 it goes to instrument panel pin 15. [page ELE - 167] it goes to the solid state thing pin b11 which i am assuming is the circuit board in the clocks but it dos not show where it goes from there dose this turn on the engine management light?
that would mean both pins [x20 8 and 19] turn the engine light on which don't seem right to me or is there two lights IE car with spanner and normal engine management light?
i now this is a big read but i am stuck bad with this bit other than that the rest is all done i think/hope haha.
thanks.

Thanks lads... So what pin makes the engine light come on? And I still want to retain the data plug for diagnostics.
Thanks
So if 8 is not needed
And 19 is service reset I won't need that aswell

Sorry I have been going by this wiring diagram http://www.akgmotorsport.com/e30convpins.html which it says e30 pin six is not used.
I see in your first post like. That it says pin six to 22 I will double check this with the bently wiring manual to double check.
E30 model don't matter it's basicly a e30 2door shell there is nothing left of the 1.6 stuff, switches, fuse boxes, dials, everything is being redone the way I want it.
Thanks mate
