Hi there, got an e46 328i on a t plate in my local scrappy, does anyone know if this will be the m52tub28 rather than the m52b28? I'm interested in the crank for an m20 conversion and theearlier crank works much more easily from past experience. I've had a look online and it looks like it's the later one from what i can fathom, cheers.

It will be a TU in an E46 I believe.
I don't know the answer to the rest of your query though.

It should be the dual vonos tu engine. Easy enough to check visually, look at the front of the engine, 1 bump = single vanos 2 bumps = dual vanos tu engine

It will be the larger crank so expect to have pistons machined and possibly block notched out in a couple of places

Thanks guys, i'll check tomorrow. I tried building a m20b28 with a tu crank before and gave up in the end and bought an older one, much easier.
