I can get my hands on a cheap m52 double vanos.

Only thing I am worried about is to get the engine running propperly. There is no ecu with the engine so I will have to source another one, also not inlet etc. but that's fine as I have the m50 one lying around.

The engine came out of an e39 528

I'd forget it Sjoerd as I believe the wiring will be a bitch, I think the TU will use the CANBUS system which will be looking for loads of sensor readings from all over the car, which the E30 won't have. I could be wrong though.

You can get them flashed so they aren't looking for the extra sensors. Better solution than standalone if you are keeping the engine standard.

Wouldn't bother though and just go with an m52.

No point.! An m52 will do exactly the same job.
Ross is correct though, you can have the Ecu flashed so its canbus free but no point if an m52 will do exactly the same job.!!!
A 2 door e30 with 8 cylinders, what could be better winkeye :D
