cooling temps for the M52

i got a 80c Thermostat M20 in it and a 80/88 switch with the three plugs, im guessing that the fan kicks in at 80 - 88 or can you wire it to kick in at 80 or at 88. As i never did the wiring and not to clued up about them its just playing on my mind abit lol

just think with the 80c thermostat the fan shouldnt really kick in at 80c cos wouldnt it cause the stat wanting to close?

plus the M52 OEM use's 90c ish setup

The fan thermostat doesn't switch at the engine operating temp. The thermostat is situated part way down the radiator end tank on the return side, so the coolant will have cooled considerably before it gets to the 'stat, unless there is insufficient airflow through the radiator, when the coolant surrounding the 'stat' will rise in temperature, closer to engine operating temperature.
