new spark plugs make it pop in idle

got new plugs and they make it pop in idle and the old ones dont, any ideas?

what plugs have you fitted? Ngk BKR6EK?

yeah mate and the old ones were as well ,cant under stand it. you had the same prob?

have you plugged the coilpacks in the correct order and locked them on? i changed mine and had no probs dude!

Basics but have you checked the plug gap? if they are too small you get a short burn and erratic idle.

ngks come pre-gapped so unless hes knocked the electrode on one or something..they should go straight in no fuss

I had this problem with NGK's then we put in Bosch plugs and it was fine with those.

took them back and they exchanged them for a new set and still done it so it chould just be the NGK's

i very much doubt its just because theyre ngk manufactered plugs. i sell 30 odd off them on a good day (especially bkr6ek's) and theyre spot on. they are much more reliable than the bosch or champion plugs we used to sell in the past. add that to the fact you had ngks in before and it was fine..... you havent messed with anything else on the car have you? think back......

100% mate even put the old one back in and it didnt do it, put the new ones back in and guess what! lol

Are you sure thats the plug number you have been sold?

Same as Bhups for me and my m52. Was fine on boschs, changed to NGK and a light misfire + very slight hunting on idle and it wasn't pulling as well as it was on the boschs. Put the boschs back in and it was fine.

it flys with the new plugs but pops abit on idle, its a mad why new plugs should do this

Check the leads, the end caps can get pulled off if they are tight coming of.

weird. cant see why one set of knackered bkrs dont pop and 2 new sets do? as said i changed mine over on my m50b25 no probs not for any reason other than a typical service. ive just changed the mrs m52b28 plugs for ngks to sort a misfire i had with boschs, although they were battered and any plug in that shape i would expect to miss. how annoying. the easiest thing then would be to stick in a set of bosch plugs, see what it does. can they get you a set in?

even put coilpack 6 to 3, 5 to 2 and so on and still did it so they are sweet, its just a jar but the engine is sweet, got a sneeky feeling a o2 sensor is on its way out

Just realised you are not running an M20 if you have individual coils

Are the earth wire connections good for the coils?

yeah mate pulled every coil out one by one and it runs ruff so they are working

I had a similar problem on my old m20, new ngk's about a month old and caused a misfire and terrible running after a minute from cold. Wound up checking and changing all sorts for it to finally be fixed by a set of bosch plugs.
So you can add me to the list of people who have had a dodgy set of ngk's.

it stalled on me the other night twice so took the idle value out to clean it. when i put the m50 manifold on.. we, well i put the valve on on the wrong way round (dont ask). but does it still a tiny bit but need an new o2 sensor the computers coming up with but no more 5500rpm limp mode did the speed signal today and it flys. But why its fine with the old plugs its crazy

UPDATE UPDATE: o2 sensor was fooked put another one in today test drive tomoz. oh and i need a new cluch, slipping like a burning a bitch
