after changing both lambda's (both were knackered) i had my car plugged in today and these are the codes that came back up

1- 217 can. timeout ags/egs
2- 68 tank venting valve; electronic fault
3- 55 02 sensor before cat
4- 52 exhaust flap solenoid valve

i need help identifying numbers 1 and 4 please. what are they and where are they located also what do they mean?

number 2 (tank venting valve) im not worried with as its not needed

T.I.A 8)

4. The little flap in the back of the exhaust on the e36, not important.

thanks for the quick response mate, so number 4 is pretty much the same as number 2 then...... not needed/important....

with number 1 im thinking its something to do with canbus,,, where danthe chops out unnecessary parts of the ews system and leaves what is necessary. i could be wrong but hopefully he will confirm this :)

thanks again 8)

Its just whining that there is no communication from the autobox ECU, wont make any odds to how the engine runs, same as 68 and 52, the wires are gone winkeye
Any joy finding me a replacement loom yet Ant?

Number one is the Control unit looking for a response from the autobox control unit via the can lines, all to do with throttle modulation during gear changes and load signals, if you are not running a matching autobox don't worry, perhaps it could be coded out?

Yeah, I think danthe hacked up an auto loom and I'm running manual so its nothing to worry about. Infact the only one that's bothering me is the lambda as I just put 2 in and 1 of them is obv shagged :(

You mean "3- 55 02 sensor before cat " lamba? or is there another one there? Because I noticed whilst taking off my e36 exhaust there's a 3rd lamba before the cat but mine was also unplugged as the guy i bought the car off had decat it.

Only 2 lambda sensors, the ECU will have been from an auto on yours Ant, which is why its looking for EGS codes.
To prove its the lambda just swap the plugs then check the codes again, the fault will move if it is the sensor

@green- remember the lambda sensors go into the backs of each bank of the manifolds originaly on an e36..... so before the cat!
ive had mine relocated to each downpipe due to both lack of space after modding and ease of changing ect.....

@dan- i thought that would be the case mate, i wont worry about them then 8)

Sorry to crash your thread, but maybe you can help since you've had the same issue.
My M52B28 swap with the Siemens DME MS41.0 ECU also gives me errors I want to get rid off permanently.
34 Solenoid Valve Exhaust flap- this should be easily fixable by putting a Resisor in place of the Solenoid. Does anyone have a value ?
64 DME Control Unit self test- What about this one ?

Error 06 for the Road speed signal should be curable by taking the Road speed signal off the speedo input ?
Error D9 Can Bus I suppose is a result of not having a ABS module ?
