I'm at the refitting stage of my M52 conversion - I bought a running conversion with all the right bits.

On fitting the Clio servo to my car (325i cabby) the master cylinder push rod sits too far into the car for me to attach the clevis pin. Inside the engine bay I have a similar situation with the brake pipe connections - the master cylinder is sitting too far towards the bulkhead. When I removed the assembly from the other car it was all in the perfect position, so I'm a little confused - can anyone offer any advice ot help please? I'd like to get the engine in the car tomorrow and want the servo done beforehand.

OK, I think I've sorted the clevis pin - I pushed the rod forward by a few mm to locate the pin - is this OK to do, or will the master cylinder always be under some hydraulic pressure? Will the brakes always be slightly engaging and therefore bind?
I've looked at the brake pipes which connect to the m/c again - one I could probably bend to fit (front one), but the other hasn't got enough to be able to move the required distance.

Thoughts?

Where the clevis pin is concerned you should adjust the bar/rod at the brake pedal, which is just a 17mm nut.Slacken it off and turn the rod until the other end lines up with the holes on the servo so the clevis pin fits.

As for the mc i`m not sure,i just took mine off the E30 one with the pipes attached bent it out the way a bit then put it back on the clio one :)

As said, you'll need to make adjustments on the balance bar between the brake pedal and the servo linkage, otherwise you'll end up with your brakes stuck on.

The clio servo is a little thicker than the E30 one, so that may explain the pipes not lining up dead on. Also, the sound deadening material on the bulkhead can sometimes be a little troublesome and means the servo does not sit as tight to the steel of the bulkhead, so some trimming can sometimes be necessary.

I was able to 'massage' the brake pipes enough to fit them.

Do not forget that will need a spacer of some sort to slide into the master,to,in effect, lengthen the servo pushrod.Meauring from the lip of the servo's back to the pushrod will give you a starting point.

Thanks all, got it sorted. I managed to move the front pipe enough to get it to fit, but the rear was still too far away. I undid the m/c from the servo and slid it forward, connected the rear pipe and pulled it on by tightening the bolts back up - simple! I checked to see that nothing had been pulled tight, but it all looks fine. The work on the Clio servo had already been done as it came from a running conversion I bought.
