Looking at a m50/m52 to replace a M40 - just a quick and dirty for a daily shitter. Can I use the original 4hp22 auto behind a m50/m52?

Bump ...

I realise this will be an unconventional approx, but I am trying to minimise the offroad time.

I'll later fit the ZF 5 speed when I have time.

To be honest with you mate, I used an m42 gearbox on my m50 engine and it was still quite tight! I had to bend the clutch to slave pipe to hook it up!
I'm not saying it cannot be done for definate but I would think things would be very very tight down there.
Why not just hook up manual transmision in 1 go to save you any later hasle?...
A 2 door e30 with 8 cylinders, what could be better winkeye :D

Thanks. I was hoping for some to pipe up a say "it is easy". In absence of such a post, I'll go manual. I picked up a pedal box and kit today.

Not a lot of work really, put an extra 2 hours on top of the swap time
