The stock air box will be better.

You need an early 325 M50 air box though as the M52 ones and later M50 ones have a large plastic resonance chamber that gets in the way of the top hose

the stock airbox is better like beemerlad has said. Im using a cone filter at the moment until i find an airbox, but for the meantime ive got a diy'd heatsheild - and it makes a difference too!

Im sort of being forced to use a cone filter but will be either making or buying (there was an epic looking one for sale) a heat sheild with a bonnet rubber seal on it.

You don't have a pic of yours do you cook?

Wow! Was JUST about to ask this very question! Lee, does the E36 M50 airbox mount into the original bracket?

I also seam to remember something about a 7 series filter ages ago being used.

Here`s two options you could do,M30 air box or the M50 box.
I`ve gone for the M30 box because i`ve got ABS and it gets in the way for the M50 box.
