Been trawling all night now and made this list, please let me know if i have missed anything or got anything wrong. Also i'm a bit confused as to which gearbox, diff and propshaft to use. The ones from the 325i recipient car would just be too easy i suppose :?

Useable bits on recipient car (E30 325i)

Gear shifter
Propshaft bearing (reversed)
Exhaust

Gearbox and diff ??

Bits from donor car(E36 328i)

Engine
Manifold
Radiator
Fan
Steering rack

Gearbox, diff and propshaft???

Other bits to source

E34 M50 sump 525i/520i??
E34 Steering UJ's X2
E28 M5 engine mounts
E30 320i gear shift rods
E36 318i air con fan temp switch
Extra E30 radiator mount
Clio servo
Custom made PAS pipes

(from DanThe):
Custom engine loom
Custom fan loom
Custom splined steering shaft

Many thanks for input

Useable bits on recipient car (E30 325i)

Gear shifter - Yes
Propshaft bearing (reversed) - Did not need to reverse with M42 gearbox
Exhaust - Yes

Gearbox and diff ?? - Diff if you are going to use an E30 gearbox. On the gearbox front, I would either use a 318is box or use the E36 gearbox if it is a manual. - reason being the 6 pot E30 gearbox will sit at the wrong angle and you'll have to bodge the gearshift mechanism

Bits from donor car(E36 328i)

Engine  yes
Manifold Yes
Radiator - yes
Fan - if it is the air con fan, don't use the viscous fan
Steering rack - big yes!

Gearbox, diff and propshaft??? - if it is a manual, use the E36 gearbox, I can't remember what prop you have to use though. The E30 diff will be no good and you will need to get the guts of the E36 diff swapped into the E30 casing.

Other bits to source

E34 M50 sump 525i/520i?? + oil pick up pipe & dipstick tube
E34 Steering UJ's X2 - yes
E28 M5 engine mounts - yes
E30 320i gear shift rods - yes (if using M42 gearbox)
E36 318i air con fan temp switch - should already be one in your E36 rad.
Extra E30 radiator mount - yes for passenger side
Clio servo - yes
Custom made PAS pipes - yes
+ E30 brown temp sensor
+ Early M50 325i air box (unless you want to use a cone filter)

(from DanThe):
Custom engine loom - yes
Custom fan loom - yes
Custom splined steering shaft - yes

Many thanks for input

dont forget about grabbing all the ews bits from the donor car too!

Propshaft to use with the e36 gearbox is the 328i proshaft with an e30 centre bearing put on the wrong way around. The diff ratio needs to be between 2.91-3.25 really (i have a 3.25 in mine). You also need different gearlinkage and gear lever cradel/holder doodah (i used a e36 325i lever carrier jobber with the e36 328i linkage if i remember correctly)
