Iv been searching but not quite found the answers im after, and sorry if this is a dumb question.
How exactly does the EWS system work on the later BM engines? Is it incorporated into the ECU? Does it work on a transponder in the key as per Peugeots - so can i take the transponder from the key and glue it to the ECU, or do i have to use the ignition barrel and key from the EWS equipped car?
Can you get the ECUs 'unlocked' so disabling the EWS? and do away with the need for keys and transponders etc?
Does the EWS stand alone as a unit, not part of the ECU like an aftermarket immobiliser? if so im guessing its part of the engine loom not a stand alone loom?
I know these are fairly simple but never really worked on the newer BMs in any great depth.
