Hello, I seem to have stumbled across a great 24V conversion package, only problem being, the engine comes alone- no key or ecu!

it does however come with an E36 325i loom, ecu and key - will this work? I have been told they do not have an immobiliser so work?

Worse case, if the loom, ecu and key it does come with are crap, what are the options to get it running?

I have done a search and found a variety of might works etc. Is it a deal breaker? Thanks for your help.

btw, obviously this assumes the engine runs well, having judged the character selling it, he seems genuine enough.

I'm not sure what the question is? You say it doesnt have an ecu yet the next line you say it does?

You dont need the key unless it has EWS. If it doesn't have the EWS set up, it could possibly be a deal breaker as you will either have to find a whole EWS system which is pricey, or send the ECU away to get unlocked.

Clarify what you mean and I might be able to help you.

The engine, is a 1998 328i.
The package includes another loom, ecu and key from an e36 325i - the seller says that it doesnt have an immobiliser on the 325i so would be easier to use having chucked the 328i one by mistake?!?

it will work if you have it re-mapped, would be much better to use an M52 loom and ECU though

So i could buy an M52 loom, ecu and key from any used breaker and it would work? (as long as it was a dual vanos sport)

Any single vanos ECU/key/ews module will run it, E36 loom is the best fitting

Shame, i didnt see this reply in time - it all sold for £310!! on ebay. gutted to have missed it, 328i conversion package for £310, albeit without the ecu gubbins. still, probably better to start with a whole donor car. thanks for the advice though. eyes now peeled.
