Hi, this maybe a little off topic considering its in a e34, but I thought the genius on this website might e able to lend a hand, and the info might be useful to other people doing e30 conversions.

My brother has an e34 525 non vanos and the head gasket has gone. I'm considering putting in a 2.8 m52 engine from a e36 3 series or an e39.

Can anyone give an opinion on any difficulties and anything I will need from the donar car other than the engine.

I was thinking of using the 2.5's inlet manifold to remove some restriction in the 2.8, but what about exhaust manifolds, do I need them?

The biggest factor I was worried about was the addition of Vanos...? Since all the 2.8's I can find are Vanos engines and I'm not sure if its possible to convert it into non vanos using parts from the 2.5 lump?

I'm at a loss here, any help or pointers would be appreciated.

I wouldn't mind having Vanos on there, but if its going to cause difficulties with wiring etc it might be easier to remove it, if possible lol.

You wont be able to fit the 2.8 manifolds without welding but the E34 manifolds will bolt on fine.
The easiest way to do this is to use the loom/ECU/EWS from the E36 and keep everything as intended. If you want a loom building to fit the E34 and look factory give me a shout 8)
