M52 twin vanos 2.8 engine

As the m52b28 engines are becoming hard to get hold of,what's the disadvantage of using a later twin vanos unit?
It's got the same horsepower/torque .
Does the e34 sump fit a twin vanos ?
Can the engine management be linked to a e30 ?

E34/E38 sump and E38 oil pump bits. Can go with complete ews or modified ecu.
It's still small six and swap is very similar to M50/M52
