Hello there!
After a little advice (after seeing so much conflicting) I'm going to attempt to get my shifter in the right place, and hopefully stop dropping it into 3rd instead of 5th!
Basically I have a M52 with G260, I bought the engine and box as a conversion package. The shift carrier has been cut and welded at a slightly different angle, and the rod looks to be untouched.
I was under the illusion that to get everything aligned correctly only a 10-15 degree 'twist' was needed to the rod?
All help appreciated!

I twisted mine when I put the E36 box behind my M20, twist is the other way to an M50+G260 but it's still the same issue.
I find mine with just a twist is not quite in the right place, always feels wrong/misaligned at first so it seems the link needs to move over as well as change angle.

You can also get the UUC DSSR that's twisted, which SHOULD fix it.

Bloody hell, £100 for something that a couple of DU bushes would solve! I made up a couple of aluminium shims when I replaced mine and it is/was the best BMW shift link I have felt.
The shift link bit needs to be twisted along its axis but the upper bit with the ball in needs to be twisted and moved to the side.
