Afternoon,

have been doing some hunting have been offered

3.07 Torsen diff for £350.00 plus vat

or

3.38 Torsen diff for £400.00 plus vat

both z3 diffs i believe.

question is would one of the be worth it?

I tried a few diffs on the M52 and found that for each 0.1 difference in ratio resulted in 100 rpm difference in top gear (0.83 OD). If your 5th is 1:1 from the M52 box for example, I would go for the 3.07 ratio.

Its going to be road use only i have a poser E30

the 3.07 has 45k on it do you recon its worth the money or not? its a lot of money and i cant seem to justify it at the moment. i would go for an open diff but i like a bit of rear end action every now and then.

You can still get rear end action with an open diff. Just requires a bit more effort. You'll be more reliant on weight transfer and steering input than just mashing the loud pedal.

That seems a little on the steep side, at least compared to when I was looking at Torsens a year or 2 ago

That's what I thought it was a bit steep I mean I was looking and happy to pay around £200 for one and yes I suppose you can have some fun with an open diff but I love the idea of having an LSD or Torsen diff.

oh well I guess I will keep looking for the one!!

thanks guys

Deffo 3.07 for a road car. Even my 3.15 would be a little too short for a pure road car.
