Can I use my 320 gearbox without having to make adjustments to the crossmember or will it sit on an angle ?
Not sure how true it is but I'm sure I read both the 320 and 318is boxes are getrag 240s so was just wondering if it would work the same ?

Cheers.

The 320i gearbox will sit at an angle and need the crossmember and gear linkage modifying the same as the 325i gearbox.
The 320i and 318iS boxes are both Getrag 240, but they have different bellhousings - the 320i for the M20 engine and the 318iS is the same as the M40, M44, M50, M52 engines.

Ahh cheers I did think this was the case, just wanted to be clear..
Debating weather to use the e36 box or a straight fit e30 box. Pros and cons ?
Thanks again people.

Using an E36 box means sourcing a prop (an E36 328i prop if using the ZF gearbox) and diff of suitable ratio (around 3.25:1). Using an E30 box means having to put up with the Getrag rattle!

The E36 ZF box is far nicer and would be my choice.

Not sure what box it is but its the one that came with the M50 so i presume getrag not zf ? I also have the front half of the prop too..
Would you suggest using what ive got or going for something else ? cost is a factor unfortunately :(
