I currently have an m52 swapped e30. Been running well for a year and a half now, but the motor is abit tired and I am planning to overhaul it completely in the next few months.

I have been looking for some m54b30 internals to rebuild my m52b28 with, However I can only find a fulll M54.

What I want to know is - Can the M54B30 be swapped over and run on the MS41.1 DME from my M52?

I see people OBD1 swapping them, 413 dme, so obivously running single VANOS. I would expect the same using the M52 stuff which I could easily swap over from my current motor. Also I would be transferring S52 cams into the m54 - However only the Intake cam as from my research the exhaust cams were the same?

If not or if it seems like too much work I might bite the bullet and buy the M54 long block and strip it for the internals and rebuild into my M52. Just ends up costing more!

If your looking for extra power then rebuild your M52 with the M54B30 guts, its the best way.
A rebuilt M52 will make more power than the M54, with cams/mapping your into the realms of 260hp 250lbft

I've seen a 220rwhp M54B30 with only M50 manifold, M50 intake cam on exhaust, OBD! running on a bosch 402 (both cams locked fully advanced)

With cams and M3 headers I'm sure it would push abit more too.

What's the main differences between M54 in terms of flow or is it the same?

What is the CR when you have the M54 internals inside the M52 Block / Head?

*Edit*
Better back up my claims haha

I queried him about the build recently and it was like this;

"Motor is M54B30, with M50 intake and throttle body, M54 injectors, needed to modify the M54 fuel rail a little to get it to fit. The harmonic balancer on the front is M50 non vanos, important this combination, reluctor sensor. Full M50 non vanos loom and 402 computer, tuned by Gavin Bellars at Hi Velocity. Cams are M54 on intake and M50 nonvanos intake on Exhaust with my own timing, need to be careful here and use exhaust cradle for the correct oil galleries. I use M52 exhaust headers, the small steel ones not cast.
We have had it at 225rwhp, but currently a bit lower, will be at 250 odd next tune I hope, have a few small mods on the way, exhaust and fuel. It is tuned on the TPS and doesn't run an air flow meter at all."
