Does anyone have the part number for the 323i bearing? I've found a supplier but there part number also suggests it was fitted to the 320i?

If your using the 328 ZF transmission (S5D310Z/S5D320Z), the M20 release bearing is fine, i.e the one that comes with the clutch kit.

I went through all this after getting an M20 flywheel on the M52. 50% said use a taller bearing, 50% said it will work fine without. Im just running a standard Sachs clutch, and the release bearing that came with it. This is with the standard, unmodified fork and slave cylinder. No issues and the pedal is as it was before.

Things might be different for the Getrag stuff, but I know the ZF works fine.

Well I've just taken off the getrag 260 box and fitting the zf one now so I've got the standard m20 flywheel Sachs clutch and release bearing so I take it I don't need the 5 mm then??

The details of what I have used are:

M52B28.
M20 Flywheel.
Standard M20 Sachs Clutch Kit and the Release Bearing that comes with it.
ZF 328 Gearbox.
Standard ZF 328 Fork.
Standard ZF 328 Slave Cylinder.

This setup has been swapped to another M52B28, and more recently an M52B30. Worked fine on them all. The car is only used for track days and have had no issues.

I spent hours searching this forum, like I say 50% say you need a taller bearing or tabs, and 50% say its fine without. As above, it was fine without. Having the tabs won't stop it working, it will just move the pedal biting point, but I'm just saying it works with standard parts.
