Air Filter / Cone Filter M52B28

Have an E36 328i air filter housing to make fit, but don't have the time atm so thinking as a short term measure will use a cone filter as lots of others have done. Are there any to avoid, are some better than others (e.g. K&N)? Not really looking for increased noise, just want an easy solution for 6 months or so.
