Firstly, I've taken the positive from the fuse box to the battery, as it was with the M10 engine in.
I've got 2 wires coming from the M52B28 loom. One is a red, which I've assumed is the ignition wire and positive. The second is actually 2 brown cables crimped onto one connection, and I've assumed this is negative, and connected to the drivers suspension turret where the earth comes from the negative battery connection.
Lastly I have run a new thick positive connection from the starter motor to the positive terminal on the battery.
While I was getting the motor running I just used to connect up the battery terminals when I wanted to run the engine, and disconnected them when not as I was still doing welding on the car. Now it is nearly finished I've left them connected, and the battery is draining. I've tried to charge the battery twice and both times it has blown the 20A fuse in the charger. With the battery disconnected from the car it charges fine and holds a charge. It's a fairly new diesel battery.
Secondly, while I was running the engine I noticed that the positive battery connector had worked loose and away from the battery, but the car continued to run. Is this normal?
