I know this can be done but does the ring antenna simply click onto the E30 barrel? or does the barrel have to be modified first?

Also doing this i want to put the chip into the key, ive opened the E30 key up and was thinking of replacing the bulb with the chip, is this the way to go?

Pics would be great :)

I done this long ago, it can be done and looks pretty factory, i do remember cutting a bit of the steering housing covers to accommodate the E36 ring. Here's a pic of my old one with E36 ews chip in the E30 key! Worked without fault.

I put the chip in place of the bulb in my key, but can't remember how I did it.

The ring won't clip on to the E30 barrel, you just need to make it a snug fit in the cowling. From memory, once I cut the slot for the wires, I took a dremel to the cowling (opposite to the slot) to allow the rounded ring to sit nicely in the cowling. This also helped to hold the ring in place.
