m50 why an i doing 13.ooo rpm ?

hey guys me and my mate have just finished are m50 conversion and running sweet however on are test drive the rev counter is going uo to stupid rpm on the gauge :/ the engine it self is not revving that high but am clueless on what is causing this any ideas ?

its still on the standard 1.6 diff atm until my lsd arrives if that helps but this was just a test drive thanks

Because you still have a four cylinder tachometer. Change the coding chip on the front.

are cool lol where buy is the chip and will any straight 6 chip work or will i need one from a m50b25 ? cheers

You need one from an E30 320 or 325. Try an ad. in 'parts wanted' on here.

don't get one from a 2.7 though, it needs to be from a 6 cylinder that redlines at 6250.
