could anyone tell me whats involved with a swap between a M52b28 and a S50b32??

I've got a M52 in my e30 and planning on buying a M3 engine in the ever long pursuit of more power.

so apart from exhaust manifold, ECU +loom and possobly the Radiator what else is involved?? want to try and work out how feasible this is as a weekend/driveway warrior job. lol

The oil cooler and brake servo clearance spring to mind.

that was originally the plan. i was going to turbo the m52 engine a few month ago but then smashed the sump off a shit road. ever since then the engine was running kind of shit. Dont really have the confidence in it that it would take the boost. there not the best engines to start with for boost. had looked at superchargers too, just think it would be easier, safer, and more reliable way of getting 300bhp.

Downgrade to the M50 and boost that.....

by the time you have the S50 in and running properly,
you could have a boosted m50 at around the same price, if not cheaper.

just a thought....

I had thought about that to. But I could run the s50 for a few years and when I get bored of that, which I'm sure I will. I'll go about boosting the s50. Lol

That will probably be done at the same time as a divorce right enough.

Exhaust manifold? I've got one that's been made for my m52. Totally equal length primary's and wraps round the linkage perfectly.

Been told buy the guy who builds my cars (when it's beyond my skill level or it's raining) that this will be fine for the s50. Possibly just need a few small alterations. And it already paired to a twin 2" system.

ya they were made from scratch at the same time as the full system. they are all equal length primaries. not had it on the rollers. it made 206bhp before and they've made a noticeable difference to drive so i'd be hoping somewhere in the region of 5-15bhp
