Hi guys, i got for this project a M52 from a 328i e36, a G260 from a 325e, and a 3,15 diff from a 323ti.

My car is a 320i 84, ive kept from the M20 the flywheel, starter and propshaft.

does anyone know if the propshaft from the 320i will work with the G260?

i havent had time to fit the diff yet, will it be just a plug n play mod, removing the old small case diff and putting that one in? or i will be in need of some other parts too? will the pulse generator for the small diff work with the new one?

thanks for your imput, cheers.

320i prop works with E30 M40 box on the back of a 24v if that helps, not sure about the 325e box.

If you're replacing a small case diff with a medium you'll need to change the length of the prop, so exhaust & heatshields will have to come off to get at the adjustment collar.

As you already have a 3.15 diff you would be much better off using the 328i manual box and prop

Actually i prefer the longer ratios, since this will eventually be boosted and that way i can use the beefier torque of the engine.

The engined ended up being a M52TUB28 from an E46 328i, so if i manage to get the dual vanos working with the MS3, i should have some extra torque to move those longer ratios.

Not exactly relevant but if you haven't already chucked it, the 320i box has pretty much the same ratio set as the close ratio box fitted to the 325i sport, so maybe worth keeping for a rainy day

Yeah i did know the ratios where similar, but i sold it to cover the expenses of the new box.

Anyhow once i put the turbo on that m52, power should still be too much for the smaller box of the 320i.

Sold it to a friend who had an E21 with a 4gear box.

Cheers.
