As title really, pissed me off rotten!

Changed coils - no change
Pulled plug 6 - looks fine
Unplugged both lambda's - no change
Changed crank sensor today, and disconnected battery for 15mins - no change
Unplugged maf -no change
Unplugged tps - no change

I'm thinkin its the cam sensor as its the only 1 I haven't changed on the engine and I obv don't know how long its been in there!
Will a faulty cam sensor cause limp mode?? 5500rpm

Car pulls like an animal up to 5500, the map is really aggresive and I love it but limp mode isn't letting me get anywhere near the 7k limit impossed on it.

Any advise here welcomed. I know craig has had the same issue as me... Wtf ?

You wont get very far just unplugging stuff for the sake of it Ant, you will just put more fault codes into the ECU especially if your driving with sensors unplugged.

Craigs was speed signal related

I unplugged the tps and revved it stationary, I did the same with the maf as someone told me to try it earlier even though I wasn't keen and said it wouldn't make a difference. Obv still in limp.

The guy that was going to plug it in turned into a mega piss take! He did not ring me to go there even though it only takes 2 mins to do and the fact I help any1 I can whenever I can. Anyway....... Lol

Mine can't be speed signal related as we spoke about yesterday as I've never experienced limp mode at all.

My money is on cam sensor.. What you reckon? There's nothin else it can be :?
Even when I've had duf lambda's (and I've had a few lol) I've never had limp mode

Will it remain in 'limp mode' if you have already replaced the faulty item until the fault is actually cleared from the ecu or does the the ecu recognise all is well and return to its normal map?
Excuse my ignorance, I only have 12valves  but am going m50/52 route soon.

^ as above would u need to clear it? by disconnecting the battery for a bit i assume?

It should drop out of limp once the problem is sorted, but I plugged an ECU into my car the other day to test it and it seemed to be stuck in limp, would only rev to 5500, was fine once id cleared the faults. This was while the car was stationary and only ran it for a couple of minutes. Would probably come fine once it had been for a bit of a run etc

So you're saying it would 'relearn' all was ok once you had been for a drive sort of thing?

I remember doing a head replacement on a tigra of all cars, once finished I went to start it and had left a sensor disconnected, this immediatly triggered the managemnt light on the dash. This wouldnt clear once i had found my mistake.
A nice chap at vauxhall told me to start up and switch off 20 times after this period the ecu would 'forget' the fault now that it wasn't present. Saved me 50quid having it plugged in at a garage . I suppose ECUs have moved on in complexity and simply disconnecting the battery for a while is no longer a garauntee that all wll be sorted.

If this guy doesn't get back to me Kev that could be an option mate, thanks.

As I said to Dan on the phone, the only thing I've not changed (since I've had this engine) is the cam sensor, and I obv don't know how long this item has been in there! My money is on that to be fair. There's nothing else that could cause limp mode is there...?...

By the way, I have your spare ecu boxed up in my girlfriends gramps house along with that other chip. Been meaning to bring it to you but its been stashed away in a safe place (so safe I forgot about it) haha

Pin 14 is speed signal on my car mate, but for some wierd reason the second ecu throws speed signal fault and strikes limp mode, my other 1 doesn't. Very strange, spoke to Danthe and he has said it must be the ecu. Temperamental :?
