M52 sump

Can you fit an M52 5 series sump and pick up pipe onto an M50?
The reason i ask is that M52 sumps seem to be more available and a lot cheaper than an M50 one.

E bay: m52 sump £40. M50 sump £102.

Also when i change over my pick up pipe do i have to change the pump as well or is it one unit etc etc?

M52 engines were never fitted to E34's
The sump you are on about is probably from an E39 and wont fit, pump remains, just change the pickup and gasket
