Has anyone used an e36 rad with an m30?

I've always used them on my e30's as they are plentiful, relatively large and have a built in header tank. Sticking the m30 in over the weekend, would be interested to know if anyone else has done it with one?

Thanks

Ross

Not seen one with an e36 rad in myself yet, but sure it must have been done at some point? Thing you'd have to watch would be how thick the rad is, as the dizzy cap is very close to the rad even when using the thin e28 535i rad.

Think they are too thick as with thin e28 rad mentioned above my engine sits about 5 to 10 mm from the rad

In and running :D not bad for an evening and a days work.

No idea what the plan is. It was a free swap that I stumbled upon so figured I would give it a go. I am having dirty ideas of a junkyard turbo build as I have a lot of spare turbo bits kicking around from my other build but we will see. Plan is to get it running well and all niggles sorted. The engine hadn't been ran in 10 years so it needs some tweaking.

e36 rad works-ish. I need to procure some silicone hose and joiners to make up something better. It is currently a mix of e30, e34 and e21 hoses, and even a bit of e30 bonnet hinge tubing to make a joint for the pipes. My car had air con which I have now removed so I removed the fan from the condenser and hard wired it on so I could drive the car from my friends yard to home. It actually cools it too well, sitting well below the quarter mark. I'll make up a temp switch for it.

I enthusiastically left a petrol station, other than that I was on good behaviour

For what it cost me I am happy. Have to see what it's like now I've done all the plugs and cleaned out the filthy throttle body
